Ten minutes with Ginger Tiberi
What
makes Rayco Automotive special?
"We
take the time to talk with our customers," says Ginger Tiberi,
co-owner and Business Manager. "Especially women.
Women are savvy shoppers. They're knowledgeable. But in
the auto world they don't give themselves enough credit. Women
need to know what they are spending money on and why. When
they come in and see me sitting here they feel comfortable.
They know that I'll treat them honestly and do the right thing for
them," she notes.
"Rayco Automotive is a family business, not a corporate money
machine. We've been part of this community for decades.
We grew up here, went to school here, got married and had kids here.
And since 1976 we've had our business right here on Rt 13.
Like many women I didn't know a lot about car repair when I started,
but thirty years of working on cars teaches you a lot,"
she declared. "And I'll be happy to share what I know."
Rudy
Tiberi, owner, is Ginger's husband. "The main
message that people need to hear is that vehicle maintenance is
an investment in your car. A good example is your brake
system. If proper maintenance is neglected, a $139 brake job
can end up costing more than $500."
"Take that van we just towed in, for example. They only
changed the oil twice in 32 thousand miles. Now the engine
is shot. They have a towing bill, the cost of a new engine,
and the truck is out of service for three days. If they were
one of our regular customers this would never have happened."
"When you bring your vehicle in here for oil changes we always
inspect the rest of your car, spotting cracked belts or hoses, worn
brakes or tires — whatever it is
— BEFORE it leaves you stranded,"
said Tony Tiberi, one of three second generation of Tiberis to work
in the business. "Most people don't understand the value of a
good maintenance program. But we see it here every day."

Rayco is trusted by many classic and antique
car owners. "Our care, attention to detail, and
quality materials really set us apart," says Foster Starkey.
As lead upholsterer, Foster's craftsmanship has been
demonstrated time and time again. "Basically, we can
fabricate anything. Seats, door panels, arm rests...
And we do repairs, too. Headliners, door handles, that
sort of thing. If you bring it in we can tell you
what's wrong and how much it will cost to fix."
Foster's work can be seen all over the state of Delaware.

Today's automobiles are quite complex.
All new cars have sophisticated sensors and computerized
"black boxes." Our diagnostic tools and
troubleshooting techniques are kept current through on-going
training. Here ASE-certified Master Technician
John Tarburton analyzes the results of a diagnostic test
with Certified Technican Jerald Duncan.
